Myanmar (formerly Burma)

In partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ/CCC-Myanmar, we planned on starting feeding programs at 2 villages in Myanmar in the month of March but because of the pandemic the plan was not put into motion. This month, the decision was made to proceed in distributing groceries (rice, noodles, beans, & cooking oil). The villagers were also given gospel reading material.

According to The Borgen Project, 25.6% of the 53 million living in Myanmar lives below the national poverty line and that 29.4% of children under 5 have stunted development. The World Bank indicated that 6.4% are living with $1.90 a day. So you see, just like in the Philippines, hunger is prevalent in Myanmar, too. The plan for the feeding programs looks different from what we’re conducting in the Philippines, as we were informed that Myanmar culture dictates that if we feed the children, their parents must be fed as well. Proverbs 22:9 Ministries will adapt to the culture and show God’s love in a very practical way.
